Surfside Studio is a family owned and operated pottery. We are currently focused on high fire crystalline glazes. This type of glaze is extremely difficult to produce, and very few potters work with this technique. The results are a combination of specific glaze formulation, application, and firing techniques. Despite meticulous attention to detail, the results are often unpredictable. The crystals that grow on our pottery are like snowflakes in that no two are exactly alike. The attempt to control at high temperatures, about 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, what so easily occurs in nature is a wonderful challenge with vast possibilities.

All of our pieces are hand thrown or slab formed and one of a kind. The works are made from porcelain or white stoneware and are microwave, oven, and dishwasher safe. The crystals are permanent and will not fade or change over time. However, due the microporosity and texture of the crystalline glaze, food should not be stored in the wares.
